Tennis Racquet Grip Selection

Good maneuverability of the tennis racquets depends on the proper grip size. The sizes that are available on the market are the following:

L0           :  junior
L1, 4
1/8 :  junior or women with short fingers
L2, 4 1/4 : usually fits to most women with a “normal” palm (Distance between the tip of the middle finger and the base of the palm is 16-17 cm)
L3, 4 3/8 : usually fits to most men with a “normal” palm (Distance between the tip of the middle finger and the base of the palm is 17.5 -18.5 cm)
L4, 4 1/2 : usually fits to men with a big palm or long fingers (Distance between the tip of the middle finger and the base of the palm is 19-20 cm)

If you're between 2 grip sizes, go with the smaller size and add an overgrip to arrive at the ideal fit. A typical overgrip will increase a grip by 1/16 inch and add around 10gr to its total weight.

A good rule of thumb is that when you grip the handle (as seen in the photo) the distance between the fingers and the palm should be equal to the thickness of the index finger. e-tennis

The Yonex Ezone Alfa L is an excellent choice for beginner players who want to enjoy the game while steadily improving their performance. Weighing just 260g with a 100" head size, it offers ideal maneuverability and stability. Its 335mm balance and 16x18 string pattern provide great feel and control on every shot. Part of the latest Ezone generation, it features the brand-new Blue Blast color and introduces the innovative MINOLON material, which forms a mesh-like structure that effectively absorbs vibrations to protect the arm. With its enlarged sweetspot and slightly wider head profile, this racket ensures explosive energy and enhanced responsiveness—perfect for players transitioning from junior to adult frames.

  • Aero Shape
Smoother and more aerodynamic contours across the entire racket head reduce wind resistance for increased racket head speed.

  • Isometric
Introduced by YONEX in 1980, this unique head shape enlarges the sweet spot by 7% by increasing the number of main and cross strings that intersect in the sweet spot zone, offering more forgiveness and control.

  • Liner Tech
Straight-hole grommets allow for greater string movement, enhancing power and comfort, especially on off-center shots.

  • Oval Pressed Shaft (OPS)
The rounded shaft corners provide ideal flex at impact, increasing dwell time for improved spin and directional control.

  • Shockless Grommets
Located at the side and bottom of the frame, these grommets reduce muscle fatigue and provide a softer feel, protecting the wrist, forearm, and elbow.

  • Vibration Dampening Mesh (VDM)
A stretchy mesh material wrapped around the graphite inside the grip, VDM reduces vibrations by 30%, resulting in less arm fatigue and improved precision.

  • Durable Skin
Adaptive material that ensures stable yet flexible footwork support (note: this feature may relate more to footwear but is occasionally mentioned with frame coatings).

  • Nanocell Neo
A strong yet flexible graphite material that enhances the racket's resilience and power transfer.
